Connect Pennyweight to Grok
Grok (xAI) can connect to Pennyweight as a custom MCP connector. Grok added Bring Your Own MCP connectors in 2026, so you can point it at any remote MCP server — including Pennyweight — and talk to your ledger in plain English. Your account binds when you authorize; Grok never sees your bank login or your encryption keys.
Before you start
- Plan:custom connectors are a paid-tier feature on Grok. A free account can’t add a custom MCP server yet.
- Where:connectors work in Grok on the web (grok.com) and in the iOS and Android apps. Add it once; it’s tied to your Grok account.
Add the Pennyweight connector
- Open grok.com/connectors(or Connectors from Grok’s settings).
- Choose New Connector → Custom.
- Name it Pennyweight and paste the server URL: .
- Choose the OAuth authentication option. Grok sends you to Pennyweight to sign in, complete two-factor, and enter your passphrase — then back to Grok. That handshake is what binds the connector to your account.
- Enable Pennyweight from the tools / connectors menu in a chat, then ask your first question.
Importing statements
If your bank isn’t on Plaid (or you’re outside the US), share a statement (PDF or CSV) in the chat and ask Grok to read it and add the transactions — see importing without a bank link.
Managing access
Remove the connector from Grok’s connectors settings any time. See manage & revoke access. The grant lasts 30 days of active use; Pennyweight never gives Grok your passphrase or keys.
