Connect Pennyweight to Claude

Connect Claude once and it can work with your Pennyweight data in any chat where the connector is on. Before you start, read Connect your AI and turn on two-factor: Pennyweight refuses to authorize an AI until two-factor is on.

How to do it in Claude (web and desktop)

Per Anthropic's help center, custom connectors are available on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans. Free plans are limited to one custom connector.

  1. Go to Customize → Connectors.
  2. Click + Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Name it Pennyweight and enter this URL: . Click Continue.
  4. Review the detected authentication settings and click Continue.
  5. Under Authentication, choose Sign in now, then click Add.
  6. When Claude sends you to Pennyweight, sign in if asked, enter your passphrase and click Authorize. Pennyweight sends you back to Claude.
  7. In a chat, click + at the lower left of the chat, then Connectors, and turn Pennyweight on.

On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner adds the connector under Organization settings → Connectors. Each member then goes to Customize → Connectors, finds Pennyweight and clicks Connect.

Once you connect on the web or desktop, the connector is available the next time you sign in to the Claude iOS or Android app. Anthropic says web and desktop are the main path for adding custom connectors, so set it up on a computer.

How to do it in Claude Code

  1. Add the server:
  2. In Claude Code, run /mcp and follow the steps in your browser: sign in to Pennyweight, enter your passphrase and click Authorize.

Claude Code shows a startup notice when a configured server still needs sign-in. From your shell, runs the same sign-in without opening /mcp.

What you'll see

Claude calls Pennyweight and lists your accounts by name with their current balances. Next, try your first conversation.

Good to know

  • The authorization page shows which Pennyweight account you're granting, and asks for your passphrase every time you connect.
  • If two-factor is off, the page tells you to set it up in Settings → Security and retry. For other errors, see Can't authorize your AI.
  • Pennyweight accepts sign-in callbacks from claude.ai, claude.com and localhost addresses.
  • The grant lasts 30 days of active use. You can revoke it at any time from Settings → Connect your AI; see manage and revoke AI access.
  • Claude never gets your passphrase or encryption keys. It gets an opaque token that lets Pennyweight's server decrypt your data for tool calls only.
  • If Claude won't authorize, remove the Pennyweight connector and add it again.
