Turn on card, investment and recurring details
On this page
Your linked bank can share more than balances and transactions. Three extra switches let your AI read card and loan terms, investment positions, and the bank's view of your recurring bills and income. You turn each one on per bank, in the web app. If you haven't linked a bank yet, start with connect a US bank or card.
The three switches
- Card & loan details: APRs, minimum payment, due dates, statement balance. Applies to credit cards, PayPal credit, mortgages and student loans. See see APR, credit limit and payment due dates.
- Investment details: holdings, cost basis, margin loan, cash available. Applies to investment and brokerage accounts. See view investment holdings and gains.
- Recurring bills & income: subscriptions, bills, paychecks and their next dates. Applies to bank accounts and credit cards. See subscriptions vs bank-detected recurring payments.
A credit card's limit and an account's available balance don't need any switch. They come with every linked account when the bank reports them.
How to do it
- Turn on two-factor authentication. Pennyweight won't change what a bank shares without it.
- In the web app, open Settings → Accounts.
- Find the bank's card. Under Details from your bank, each switch that fits that bank's accounts shows with Off next to it.
- Click the switch you want. It reads Enabling… while the request runs.
- If your bank asks for your approval first, Pennyweight opens a page titled with the switch name, such as "Allow investment details". Click Continue with Plaid and approve the extra data in Plaid's window. The switch turns on after that.
You can also ask your AI which details are on for each bank. When a switch applies but is off, your AI gets a link to Settings → Accounts. The link opens the accounts list, so find the bank's card there.

Why can't you see the APR on my Rewards Card? Do I need to turn something on?
What you'll see
When it works, the page reloads with a note such as "Investment details enabled. New details appear on each account." The switch now reads Enabled, with the line "Billed monthly by Plaid; removed only by disconnecting the bank". Pennyweight fetches the details right away. If Plaid is still preparing the data, they appear after the next sync.
If the bank can't provide the data, the switch stays off with a note such as "This institution does not provide this data through Plaid." or "No accounts on this connection carry this kind of data."
When you ask your AI, it tells you which switches apply to each bank and which are on. For an account you added yourself, it explains there are no bank details to turn on.
Good to know
- Web only. Your AI can't turn these switches on. It can only give you the link.
- One-way. Once a switch is on, you can't turn it off. The switch reads "Billed monthly by Plaid; removed only by disconnecting the bank". See disconnect a bank vs delete an account.
- Per bank. Turning a switch on for one bank doesn't turn it on for another.
- Active plan required. An expired plan can't turn a switch on. See this ledger is read-only.
- Reconnect first. While a bank's login needs attention, its switches are disabled and read "Reconnect this bank first". See check whether your bank connections are working.
- Empty isn't zero. An empty holdings or recurring list that comes with a note means the switch is off or the data hasn't synced yet. It doesn't mean the account is empty. See my investment holdings list is empty.
- Linked banks only. Accounts you added yourself have no switches. Bank linking works for US banks only. See using Pennyweight anywhere else.
- Balances stay the same. These details add context. They don't change your balances or totals.
