Plans, pricing and early access
On this page
Pennyweight has one plan with two ways to pay, monthly or yearly, and each ledger has its own subscription. Every new account starts with a free early-access trial that covers all your ledgers, so you can try everything before you decide.
New here? Start with getting started. For what a ledger is, see workspaces and ledgers.
The prices
- Monthly: $7.99 a month for each ledger, in US dollars.
- Yearly: $69.99 a year for each ledger, in US dollars.
Both renew automatically until you cancel. Every ledger costs the same. There are no tiers and no fee per bank account. Demo ledgers are always free.
The early-access trial
- Every new account gets a 180-day free trial as an early-access member.
- The trial starts when you finish setting up your account.
- One trial covers every ledger while it runs, including ledgers you add during it.
- You don't need a card to start it, and you get full access while it runs.
- Settings → Billing shows the date your free trial ends.
What happens on that date is covered in when your trial or plan ends.
The yearly early-bird
For your first 30 days, Billing offers an extra 25% off your first year on the yearly plan. Billing shows the first year as $52.49; the standard yearly price is $69.99.
- The offer is for yearly only, never monthly.
- The 30 days count from when you finished setting up your account, not from when you open Billing.
- Pennyweight checks the 30-day window at checkout, so an old browser tab can't claim it late.
Subscribing during the trial
You can subscribe a ledger any time during your trial and keep the free days you have left. Its first charge comes when the trial would have ended. If your trial has less than about two days left, billing starts right away instead. Cancelling a subscription during the trial doesn't end the trial early.
How to do it
- Open the web app and go to Settings → Billing.
- Under Billing by ledger, find the ledger and select Subscribe monthly or Subscribe yearly. The plan card below the list belongs to your default ledger. When you have more than one ledger that isn't a demo, it's labeled "Default ledger plan".
- Complete checkout on Stripe's page. Stripe sends you back to Settings → Billing.
Choosing a plan happens only in the web app. Your AI can't start, change or cancel a subscription. Ask it to take you to billing and it gives you a link to Settings → Billing. See open the web app from your AI.
What you'll see
Billing by ledger lists each ledger with its status, such as "Free during early access", "Subscribed", "Days left to subscribe", "Read-only · no subscription" or "Demo · free". A ledger with a subscription shows Cancel subscription instead of the subscribe buttons.
The plan card for your default ledger shows the renewal terms next to its checkout buttons: both prices in US dollars, automatic renewal until you cancel, and that access continues to the end of the paid period.
After checkout, Billing reads "Checkout complete — finalizing your subscription…" and then "Your subscription is set up." If you leave checkout without paying, it reads "Checkout was canceled — nothing changed."
Good to know
- After the trial, each ledger needs its own subscription. A ledger without one becomes read-only: you can still view and export it, or delete the whole ledger. Your other ledgers aren't affected. See billing when you have more than one ledger.
- A ledger you create after the trial starts read-only until you subscribe it. Your AI gives you the link to do that.
- Cancel any time. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for. See change or cancel your subscription.
- Deleting a paid ledger, or your whole account, ends its subscription early and refunds the unused part of the current period, prorated. Nothing is refunded during the trial, because nothing was charged.
- One billing account. All the ledgers in your workspace are billed to the same Stripe customer.
- If a payment fails, see your payment didn't go through.
